Barrel Rider

“I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.” My take on the iconic scene of Bilbo aiding the dwarves escape from King Thranduil’s underground palace on the edge of Mirkwood. I chose to include closed lid-barrels, as described in the original book (in The Hobbit film the dwarves are shown to be in open barrels).

This piece appears to have a matte around the borders, with Bilbo and some water from the river spilling outside the frame! (This effect is best achieved when the art is displayed in a frame – not included).
